MUST BE TWO SIDES:
SHANE NASH. LEO DOCUYANAN

MUST BE TWO SIDES, is a celebration of the artist's refusal to reconcile the paradox intrinsic of documentary and portrait photography. An admission of the fact that photographs are often works of fiction and at times a struggle between photographer and subject to look beyond the facade that people present to the world and get the subject to reveal an underlying vulnerability that everyone possesses just below the surface.

Shane Nash was born and raised in Berkeley California. He was educated at the Cooper union in new York city and at Fabrica in Treviso Italy. He has photographed editorially for magazines such as vibe, complex and xxl. He has exhibited in New York city, San francisco and internationally in Bologna Italy and Lisbon Portugal. He currently works and resides in Oakland California.

Leo Docuyanan was born in Guam, USA and raised in Southeast San Diego, Ca. He is self taught and concentrates on portraiture of artist in the greater bay area hip-hop community. He has exhibited work in San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego and New York.
